In Memory of Grace

Grace Compagnon Stanley, 2 ½ years old, earned her angel wings on September 6th, 2006 after courageously fighting cancer for over half her life. Grace is the cherished daughter of Ian Stanley and Lesley Compagnon, only grandchild of Hal and Dianna Compagnon as well as June Heaven and Max Stanley. She will be missed by her uncles, Chris and Wayne, as well as her pet cat Griffin and Nana’s pets Willie and Simba. Grace touched the lives of many in her short time with us and although she will be missed physically, her spirit will live in our hearts and the lessons she taught us will guide us until we are joined with her again. Grace’s life will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2300 Burnhamthorpe Road West, in Mississauga on Friday September 8th at 10:30am. The service will be followed by a reception at The Glenerin Inn, located at 1695 The Collegeway, in Mississauga. Thank you to Dr. E. Bouffet, Dr. U. Bartels, Dr. J. Rutka and the army of medical professionals who supported them in their crusade to get Grace well. We were blessed with the guidance of your brilliant minds, compassionate hearts and unwavering determination to fight this unforgiving disease. Lesley, Ian and family would like to thank their friends with special thanks to Dr. C. Newman for the support extended so generously over the last year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Grace Compagnon Stanley Tribute Fund by contacting The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto or by envelopes that will be available at her reception. This fund has been set up to financially sponsor pediatric brain tumour research at the HSC. If unable to attend the service/reception for Grace please feel free to sign the ‘Book of Condolence’ for the family at Baygardens.ca or you may e-mail the family at baygardens@cogeco.net.

Dearest Lesley and Ian,

As tears fill my eyes and my heart grows heavy everytime I go into Sweet little Grace's Wedsite to get your many details that have kept us all up to date as to how Grace was doing. I now sit here at a loss for words.

I know Grace has made her way to Glory and her Soul will live on through both of you until the day you will all be reunited again.

May the grace of God comfort you and keep you, and give you strength through out the coming days.

You are both amazing individuals, and Grace was one lucky little girl to have such loving parents.
We can see where you get it all from as both your parents have been so loving and supportive throughout Grace's journey.

Thank you so much for taking the time Lesley to up date all of us throughout your incredibly busy days and sleepless night. I know all of us appreciate you sharing your most honest thoughts....it made us feel very connected to you.

We prayed daily for all of you these past few months, that you keep up your strength and courage as time passed.

We look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

God be with you both.

Love and Prayers
Doreen, Philip, Benjamin and the girls. xo

Lesley and Ian,

Everytime I sit to write a note, I am lost for words. I didn't know Grace but I do know that she touched everyone's heart during her short life.

She had two of the most loving, compassionate parents that any child could ask for. That love will help to guide you both during the difficult days ahead.

Grace has taught us all so much. I know as a mother of two small children, reading your daily struggle has made me appreciate what I have in my life and what God has granted me. All the material things don't really matter at the end of the day. It's those precious moments that you spend with a loved one and the memories that you make together.

The three of you have made a world of memories together and I hope that recalling each memory will bring a smile to your face and fill the emptiness in your heart.

May God Bless you all.

To All,

Time will heal all wounds, only if we remember this little soul.

Life is full of mysteries, and God willing - some time we get the chance to understand.

Our time now is to grieve, and remember. Knowing in time, we too will see Grace again - and all that have passed before us.

Grace is will God now and a far, far better place.

I pray not for Grace, she does not need our prayers, I do pray for Ian and Lesley and surrounding family, may they get through this, and somehow understand.

Dear Lesley & Ian,

Your words have touched me in a way that takes 'ordinary' out of a day. Through you, I've learned to hold my own kids just a little bit tighter, to give thanks, to cherish people around me and to believe that there is more to life than complaining how long it takes the lady at the drive-through window.

Your letter about the 4 bedrooms in your house & how you'd like 5 is what we all think at some point. It just goes to show that cancer knows no boundaries and it could be any of us going through what you are going through.

Thank you for sharing your daily thoughts and for being honest - you've inspired me.

Dear Lesley and Ian

We are very saddened to hear about your tragic loss of little Grace. Following your website the past weeks it was obvious that Grace was a very special strong littel girl who touched the lives of so many.

You made her short live so extraordinary and full of love with uncountable special moments.

May God bless you and provide you with the strength you and your families need.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Love
